Over 40 Years Of Heritage
A J Wells & Sons Ltd, manufacturers of Charnwood Stoves, was founded in 1972 and is a privately owned, family controlled, British company that specialises in the design and manufacture of high quality wood burning and multifuel stoves. As the oldest British manufacturer of wood burning stoves, run by second and third generations of the family, they are dedicated to providing products of enduring design and of the highest quality.
It all started in 1972, when Alfred Wells and two of his sons, started a small engineering business in Niton on the Isle of Wight. Over the last forty years they have grown from their original small factory of around 1500 sq. ft to their current site of over 50,000sq. Ft. Commitment to their staff is vital as is the commitment to invest in the latest technology to ensure the highest quality. Over the years they have installed their own Vitreous Enamelling Plant, CNC controlled Press Brakes, Robotic Welders and a state of the art Laser Profiler all of which allow pin point accuracy resulting in superior quality.
Keeping the manufacture of as many parts as possible in-house enables them to maintain full production control to provide customers with long-lasting products leading the field technically in both operation and function.

The Aire

There are 3 sizes within the range, the 3kW, 5kW and 7kW. The 3kW is designed around smaller spaces to include yurts, cabins and smaller rooms. The 5kW model is the best seller which suits most rooms with the largest 7kW there for those needing a larger output.
The Aire has been deliberately designed to maximise the view of the fire and the minimal styling fits comfortably into virtually any fireside situation whether it be freestanding or within a traditional fireplace. Designed with a large picture window, the Aire burns with a mesmerising flame pattern that is second to none.
The Cranmore

Again there are 3kW, 5kW and 7kW models within the range with an insert fire as well. The Cranmore collection takes inspiration from the Regency era with a single framed glass door and archetypal detailing. The pleasing proportions of the Cranmore make it well suited to a traditional fireplace and with a large picture window it is an ideal replacement for an open fire. The stove can also work equally well in a freestanding situation.
The Skye

As thoughtful in style as it is in function, the Skye has a refreshing design aesthetic; classically minimal with a soft modern edge. The 2 models are easy to operate (one simple push/ pull control), the ground breaking technology behind the cast iron casing ensures the user gets the very best efficiency from the fuel burnt.
The Skye has also has had a technological makeover with the new E700. This is a new intelligent micro processor controlled stove that is set to revolutionise the way we burn wood. Load the fire, close the door and let the stove do the rest. It is as simple as that.
This stove uses Charnwood I-Blu combustion intelligence that continuously monitors the state of the fire and optimises efficiency while reducing emissions through real-time adjustments. Air is introduced in just the right amounts, in the right places, at exactly the right time to ensure a cleaner, highly efficient burn. Good for air quality and the environment, good for saving fuel and good for giving a crystal clear view of the fire.
The Country 4

Is a neat, sturdy, yet graceful little fire and with a rated output of 5kW and can be installed in certain situations without the need for external air. The single door gives a complete and clear view of the fire and features a spinning primary air wheel for optimum control over the burning rate.
The Island
Its uncomplicated looks and gentle curves ensure it sits well in any situation; be it modern or traditional. The range can deliver an output of 2-12kW of heat and can take a log length of over half a metre. The Island I meets the Clean Air Act requirements and boasts an efficiency of over 85% and an extremely low smoke particle level of 9mg/m3 (the Ecodesign limit is 40mg/m3). The Island III has majestic proportions which make it ideal for larger rooms and open plan areas. Exuding a rated 12kW of heat, this is a stove that can take an incredible log length and offers a spectacular view of the fire – a true wide-screen experience.
